St Andrew’s Gardens, nestled along the River Thames, is a hidden gem in the heart of Gravesend. Home to the historic St Andrew’s Arts Centre, the Mission House, and significant statues commemorating Queen Elizabeth II and Squadron Leader Puji, this green space holds immense potential.
With the recent addition of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers services from Gravesend Pier, St Andrew’s Gardens is poised to become a key gateway to the town. The revitalised gardens will provide a welcoming first impression for visitors arriving by river.
Gravesham Borough Council is investing in a multi-phased landscape project to revitalise St Andrew’s Gardens. Using dedicated Section 106 funding, the first phase will focus on the upper area of the gardens, enhancing the hard and soft landscaping to:

The works are being carried out by Verde Landscapes, who have completed similar projects for neighbouring local councils including Tonbridge and Malling and the London Borough of Bexley.

Verde Landscapes said: “We are very much looking forward to working with Gravesham Borough Council to create a usable and inclusive space for locals and visitors alike.
“This first phase of works will create a dramatic change to the space and really allow full use of these vital gardens.”
